Contact Lens Exam

Contact Lens Exams

Some people prefer to wear contact lenses over glasses, but in order to get the best contacts for your eyes, you first need to complete a contact lens eye exam. At Spring House Eye Associates, we offer contact lens exams in Spring House and Glenside, Pennsylvania to help you find the right type of contacts as well as the right prescription.

What to Expect with Our Contact Exams

While a comprehensive eye exam can assess your vision and your eye health, a contact lens eye exam is used to determine the best contacts for your needs and is often a separate appointment. If you wear contacts or are interested in getting contacts, please let us know before your appointment so we can make the proper arrangements.

An eye exam for contacts includes tests outside of a routine exam. These contact lens tests examine a variety of factors to help you ultimately find the best contact lenses for you. During your exam, we will not only assess your vision to determine what prescription you need, but also we will measure the size of your pupils and cornea. These tests help to determine the correct size and curvature needed for your contact lenses.

Because some people have more unique eye care needs, we will also check to see if you require special lenses as well as evaluate your overall eye health. For example, when examining your tear film, we may discover that you need dry eye care. This comprehensive contact eye exam helps our doctors determine which contacts lenses are right for both your vision as well as your overall eye health needs.

While a contact lens exam allows us to recommend a specific modality of lenses, you may need to try on several pairs of contacts to find one that feels comfortable because everyone’s needs are unique and brands can also vary. Once you believe to have found the right fit, we will write you a prescription.

Contact Lens Exam Follow-Up

Because you may discover that your contacts lenses are not as comfortable as you initially thought after your contact exam, we may ask you to schedule a follow-up contact lens appointment with your doctor at one of our offices. At this appointment, you will be able to bring up any concerns you have and we can check again to make sure your lenses are the right fit.

If you are interested in contacts, reach out to us today. Our contact lens exams in Glenside and Spring House can help you on your way to finding the right pair of contacts for you.
